A year later...

So much has happened since I last posted.
  • I've finished my studies
  • I moved to Brisbane
  • I got a job with the Department of Child Safety
  • I traveled overseas to Canada, Europe & Japan
  • I got engaged
  • I quit my job

Travels
We first flew out to Canada. We stayed in Vancouver for a few days. While there, we went to Stanley Park and walked around, it was beautiful. We also went up Grouse Mountain, where it was snowing hard! That is also where Clinton and I became engaged.

We then took the bus to Salmon Arm where we stayed with my relatives. We experienced Tim Horton, The Home Restaurant, snow angels, hot tubs in the snow. More importantly, we saw the Adam's River, which is the site of the largest Salmon run in the world. They had finished a few weeks before we arrived, but were were lucky enough to see a carcass at the bottom of the river, which was around 70cms long!

We then flew up to Prince George to visit Clinton's relatives. In Prince George we learnt how to find a Christmas Tree in the forest, how to cut it down, carry it home on the car, and then decorate it. We tobogganed and skated in the snow and enjoyed a white Christmas.

We then flew to Rome. There was so much to see and do! Vatican City was most amusing. We climbed the top tower (yes, all the way to the top of that spike on the left), Clinton saw the Pope's hand when he waved out his window to bless the people. Statues and water features were everywhere.

After Rome, we caught the train to Pisa, and yes... we climbed the tower. What is not usually mentioned is the Baptistery. It was beautiful... After our visit to Pisa, we again hopped on the train to Venice.

Venice was pretty. It was amazing to be surrounded by water. We saw the water ambulance, taxi's, delivery boats... You could see the places where the water would have flooded the pathway. The Gondolas were beautiful... but way too expensive!

After Venice, we hopped back on a train and went to Croatia. We stayed in a friend's house while we were there. It was a beautiful city, however, some of the 'politics' involved in being a visitor annoyed us... After Croatia, we visited Salzburg, which was beautiful. We saw Mozart's birthplace. After this, we hopped again on a train to Frankfurt. In Frankfurt we went to the Zoo. I saw a hippo and rhino close up! That was amazing!

We then flew from Frankfurt to Tokyo. In Japan we visited a home stay of mine from school. We glimpsed Mt Fuji once. We saw many beautiful and amusing things! As usual, we encountered some "Engrish". A building had "Health & Communication" on it, and it was explained to us that it was a Drug store. We weren't too sure where the communication came into it. Our homestay also found it an amusing translation.

After 6 weeks of excitement and lack of sleep, we came home to sleep. And then work.

Killer Dentist

Have any of you heard of a situation where to just get a simple check up at the dentist not only do they probe around in your mouth, but they take x-rays too??

Well, i went a couple of days ago, and they used this stupid thing to take the x-ray. You see that beastly thing below, that stick that in your mouth. Now, i don't know whether mine is smaller, or what, but it was't going to work.

I gagged half a dozen times and it kept hitting the back of my throat! The stooopid dentist didn't get the fact that i was in pain and gagging until i nearly threw up on him!! Only then after i grumpily told him that wasn't going to work, did he think of getting a smaller one. I could handle that one.

But too late.

I now have an inch long cut at the back of my throat that is hurting like you wouldn't believe.... I should've just bitten his finger... by accident of course...

Imagine Me

Imagine Me - Kirk Franklin

Imagine me, loving what I see when the
Mirror looks at me ‘cause I imagine me
In a place of no insecurities
And I’m finally happy cause
I imagine me

Letting go of all of the ones who hurt me
‘Cause they never did deserve me
Can you imagine me

Saying no to thoughts that try to control me
Remembering all you told me
Lord can You imagine me

Over what my mamma said
And healed from what my daddy did
And I wanna live and not read that page again

Chorus
Imagine me, being free
Trusting you totally
Finally I can…imagine me

I admit it was hard to see
You being in love with someone like me
But finally I can…imagine me

Being strong and not letting people break me down
You won’t get that joy this time around
Can you imagine me

In a world where nobody has to live afraid
Because of your love fears gone away
Lord, can You imagine me

Bridge
Letting go of my past
And glad I have another chance
And my heart will dance
‘Cause I don’t have to read that page again

Vamp
Gone, gone, it’s gone, all gone

Girls and apples

Snagged this from Heather:

"Girls are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. The boys don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they just get the rotten apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. So the apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right boy to come along, the one who's brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree."

Long time coming

Everybody wants to be loved
every once in a while
we all need someone to hold on to
just like a helpless child
yeah
can you whisper in my ear
let me know it's alright

it's been a long time coming
down this road
and now i know
what i've been waiting for
and like a lonley highway
i'm trying to get home
ooo loves been a long time coming
you can look for a lifetime
you can love for a day
you can think you got everything but
everything is nothing when you throw it away
yeah
then you look in my eyes
and i have it all
once again
it's been a long time coming
down this road
and now i know
what i've been waiting for
just like a lonley highway
i'm trying to get home
ooo loves been a long time coming
didn't know i was lost
til you found me
uh huh
didn't know i was blind
but now i see
can you whisper in my ear
let me know it's alright
it's been a long time coming
down this road
and now i know
what i've been searching for
oh been a long long highway and
now i see
ooo loves been a long time
ooo been a long time
loves been a long time coming

Birdies!

New addition!

He's only 6 weeks old and brought him home yesterday. We're thinking of naming him Sam, as all our other birds have been named after horses. He's really quiet, which is good. I'm hopefully going to teach him to be quiet and sit on my finger and even sit on my shoulder.

Our roses have started blooming - which is sooo exciting!

Some of them have sooo many flowers that the poor little bush doesn't know what to do with itself! lol! They all smell great though. I'll post some links to some of the flowers.
